What are porcelain veneers?

Dental veneers are thin shells made from porcelain which fit over the front surface of your teeth. Expertly colour matched to your teeth, they blend in for a seamless finish.

Our dentist uses porcelain veneers to treat teeth which are:

• Badly stained or discoloured
• Chipped, cracked, or broken
• Crooked or misshapen
• Gapped

What’s the procedure for dental veneers?

We will ask you to attend a consultation whereby we can assess your oral health and determine if porcelain veneers are the right treatment for you.

If you decide to go ahead, our dentist uses digital smile design technology to take 3D images and videos of your mouth from all angles using an intraoral scanner.

This data is then fed into the DSD software to produce a variety of shapes and forms of veneers which can be placed over your teeth.

These images help the dental laboratory create a more realistic mockup which may include your facial aesthetics and also enables you to see how your smile will look once your treatment has been completed.

What is the porcelain veneers process?

Often, but not always, the teeth receiving the porcelain veneers need to be shaved to accommodate the veneer by removing a very thin layer of enamel. This is done at your first visit before impressions are made for the lab.

Our dentist may decide you need temporary veneers while you are waiting for your permanent versions to arrive, but this might not be the case for all patients.

On the second visit, your permanent veneers are fitted These are checked, adjusted, bonded to the teeth and polished to give a natural flawless shine.
